What is OpSail?

The very first OpSail was in 1964, parading the majesty and beauty of the international Tall Ships. Coming in 2012, Operation Sail and the US Navy will celebrate the bicentennial of the Star-Spangled Banner. This very special parade will be called The Star-Spangled Sail.

Class A tall ships from over 25 countries will journey to New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, New London, Baltimore, Annapolis, and Boston, joining the USCGC Eagle for the Star-Spangled Sail.

OpSail 2012 Virginia ™ 2012 includes:

• Three stages for entertainment Friday thru Monday
• Celebration of the War of 1812
• Over 20 International Tall Ships. Tall Ships are available for touring Saturday and Sunday
• Art, Food and Shopping
• Admission to the festival. Spirit of Norfolk docks within walking distance of festival grounds
• International Military Fleet will dock at Naval Station Norfolk
